Secular Premarital & Commitment Counseling in Marietta, GA

Secular, inclusive therapy for modern partnerships

Prepare for a Lasting Partnership—Without the Pressure of Religion

At Rosebud Psych, I offer inclusive, evidence-based couples counseling for partners in Georgia who want to strengthen their connection before marriage or long-term commitment—without needing a religious framework to guide the work.

Whether you’re engaged, moving in together, or having important “what’s next?” conversations, this space is for you. I use the Prepare/Enrich model to help couples deepen understanding, improve communication, and proactively build a strong foundation for the future.

Many premarital counseling options are rooted in religious or faith-based teachings. That’s not what I offer.

At Rosebud Psychotherapy, I work from a secular, research-informed lens that honors your values, your relationship dynamics, and your vision for partnership. This is a space where:

  • Your beliefs (or non-beliefs) are respected

  • There’s no agenda or moral framework imposed

  • You and your partner can explore your relationship with honesty, curiosity, and care

This work is about growing together—not trying to fit into a prescribed model of what a relationship "should" look like.

Not Your Typical Premarital Counseling

Who This Couples Counseling is For

This approach is a great fit for couples who:

  • Want a secular alternative to church-based premarital counseling

  • Are navigating interfaith or spiritual differences

  • Are in “non-traditional” partnerships (queer, feminist, cross-cultural, etc.)

  • Value personal growth, open communication, and emotional safety in relationships

  • Believe in being intentional about how they grow their partnership—not just going through the motions

Whether you’re dating and getting serious, newly engaged, or already committed and wanting a relationship check-up, you’re welcome here.

I offer couples counseling in person in Marietta, GA and virtually across the state of Georgia.

What We Cover in Premarital & Commitment Couples Counseling

Using the Prepare/Enrich model, we’ll explore topics like:

  • Communication and conflict resolution

  • Expectations around money, roles, and responsibilities

  • Intimacy and affection

  • Navigating in-laws, friendships, and boundaries

  • Personality differences and stress management

  • Long-term goals, values, and shared meaning

You’ll each complete an in-depth relationship assessment, and our sessions will be tailored to your specific strengths and growth areas.

Think of it as a tune-up for your relationship—not because something’s broken, but because you care about keeping it strong.

What You Can Expect

  • A warm, respectful, and affirming space—secular, but not anti-spiritual or anti-religion

  • Research-backed support rooted in Prepare/Enrich, relational psychology, and mindful communication skills

  • Real-life tools to help you navigate the highs and lows of long-term partnership

  • Sessions that feel collaborative, not prescriptive

  • It depends on your goals and what you're hoping to work on together. Many couples find that 8-10 sessions give them a solid foundation using the Prepare/Enrich model. Some continue longer if they want deeper support with communication, boundaries, or ongoing life transitions. We’ll tailor the number of sessions to your needs—this isn’t a one-size-fits-all process.

  • Sessions are $215 for a 50-minute appointment. If you're completing the Prepare/Enrich assessment, there’s a one-time $35 fee per couple (not person) that covers your online questionnaire and personalized feedback report. Our initial intake session will be 75-80 minutes long and cost $250.

  • Yes, in Georgia, couples who complete at least 6 hours of premarital counseling can receive a discount on their marriage license fee, potentially reducing it from $56 to $16, or even making it free in some counties. Check out your county’s requirements and process for details.

  • We’ll start with an 80-minute intake session together, where I’ll get to know you as a couple and learn more about what brings you in. You’ll each complete the online Prepare/Enrich assessment, which gives us a personalized roadmap for the work ahead. I’ll also meet with each of you individually for a 50-minute session to better understand your unique perspectives.

From there, we’ll come back together for a 50-minute feedback session to review your assessment results and begin working through the interactive workbook. I’ll offer practical homework between sessions to help you apply what you’re learning in real life. Ongoing sessions are typically 50 minutes, unless we decide together that more time would be helpful.

  • Not at all. Many of the couples I work with are simply committed and curious—they want to grow together with intention. You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit. Whether you're preparing for marriage, moving in together, or just wanting to invest in your relationship, you're welcome here.

  • This service is not based on any religion. My approach to couples counseling is secular and evidence-based, meaning I don’t work from a religious or spiritual framework. That being said, I deeply respect and welcome clients of all backgrounds and belief systems. Whether you identify with a particular faith, are in an interfaith relationship, or don’t identify with religion at all, you’ll find this space to be inclusive, respectful, and free of judgment or agenda. My role is to support your relationship on your terms, guided by your values—not mine.
