Therapy Intensives in Marietta, GA

Focused support when you need more time, depth, or momentum.

Therapy Intensives — A Different Way to Work Together
Sometimes the change you’re seeking doesn’t fit neatly into weekly 50-minute sessions. Some people come to therapy with patterns or experiences that feel big, layered, or urgent (and that’s okay).

A therapy intensive is a space to slow down, connect deeply, and focus on what matters most — in a way that meets you where you’re at and your pace. You don’t have to “be perfect” or know all the right answers to explore this work. You’re welcome as you are. Dive straight into what matters most—whether it’s a heavy shame, persistent anxiety, boundary breakdowns, or a relationship that’s pushing you to a breaking point.

A therapy intensive is an extended-format session (90 minutes to 3+ hours) designed to explore your themes, patterns, or challenges with continuity and presence. Think of it as a very intentional chunk of time with focused support and reflection.

You might choose an intensive because you want:

  • more sustained time with a therapist

  • relief from repetitive or stuck patterns

  • deeper integration of insights + skills

  • space for reflection without weekly gaps

There is no one “right” reason for an intensive.

Therapy intensives are available in-person at my Marietta office or virtually anywhere in Georgia.

What We Can Work on in an Intensive

Each intensive is personalized based on your goals. Here are just a few examples of what we can focus on:

  • DBT Skill Building – mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance - personalized scripts and crisis plan

  • Building Boundaries – values-based limits, assertiveness skills, scripts, in-session practice, and working through the guilt and pushback

  • Self-Compassion & Shame – learn to soften the inner critic and strengthen the inner nurturer, identify what triggers your shame and what to do when you just want to run away and hide or lash back out

  • Relationship Challenges – with or without your partner, we’ll explore what’s not working and how to shift it, focus on healthy, effective communication skills

  • Dungeons, Dragons, and Therapy – All-Day Group Intensive – explore your growth edges through guided, immersive roleplay. Step into a character aligned with your therapeutic goals (like assertiveness, gentleness, or curiosity), face challenges as a team, and process insights together in and out of game. Includes a pre-group 1:1 session, custom materials, a full day of collaborative gameplay, and reflective integration time. No experience with D&D required—just a willingness to show up as your whole self (and maybe wield a magical sword).

Why Choose an Intensive Over (or Alongside) Weekly Therapy?

  • More value in fewer sessions. A 2–3 hour intensive allows us to do the kind of deep work that might take 4–6 traditional sessions to cover.

  • You save time by scheduling fewer appointments and avoiding the “just getting warmed up” feeling of shorter sessions.

  • You get focused results. We’ll stay on one theme or goal instead of juggling multiple things week to week.

  • You walk away with tools. You’ll receive worksheets, reflection prompts, and concrete next steps.

  • You can still do both! Intensives can supplement ongoing therapy or stand alone as a powerful boost during life transitions.

What to Expect

Every intensive is shaped to your needs. What you do together depends on your goals, process, rhythm, and what shows up in the room.

That said, you can expect:

  • extended, focused time together

  • space for emotional processing

  • opportunities to notice patterns in real time

  • time for reflection, grounding, and integration

  • a collaborative rhythm that respects your pace

Commonly Asked Questions

  • Nope. New or returning clients are welcome. We’ll start with a free 15-minute consult to make sure it’s a good clinical fit.

  • That’s okay. You’ll get a pre-session form to help clarify goals, and I’ll guide the structure of the session.

  • Not exactly. Intensives are intentionally structured with flow, integration, and breaks—so you feel grounded, not drained.

  • You’ll get a summary of key insights and next steps. You can also add a 30-minute follow-up call (optional) within two weeks, schedule another intensive further out, or continue with regular shorter therapy sessions.

Who are Intensives for?

Therapy intensives can be supportive if you:

  • are feeling overwhelmed or “tired of waiting” between sessions

  • want concentrated support for a specific challenge

  • learn more effectively through continuity and experiential depth

  • are working with anxiety, relationships, people-pleasing patterns, or nervous system concerns

  • want a chunk of time where your inner world can breathe

You don’t have to be in crisis — you just have to feel called to work this way.
